The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) presents the coveted Campus Placement Programme, a bi-annual initiative held in September and January. It offers a launchpad for freshly qualified Chartered Accountants (CAs) to kick start their careers.
ICAI conducts campus placement programs twice a year. These programs connect newly qualified Chartered accountants (NCQA) with organizations seeking the best talent for their human resource needs.
The Institute has 52 overseas chapters spread over Africa and the Middle East, Asia, Oceania, and Australia, and in Europe and the US. The Institute functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MoCA), Government of India. The institute has more than 4,00,000 members and 9,85,000 students from all over the world, and it has 176 branches all over India.
Recently, the ICAI organized its 60th campus placement program for Chartered Accountants who passed the May 2024 examination. Following a two-year gap due to COVID, the program was held this time in physical mode at nine major centers—Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, and Pune—in addition to 20 smaller centers across the country.

ICAI Campus Placement Statistic
This year, as many as 241 organizations participated in the campus placement of ICAI, which is the highest number of participating organizations, whereas earlier it was 140 in the 59th process and 169 in the 58th placement round.
The offers also increased with the increase in the number of participating organizations from 3395 in the 58th to 3002 in the 59th and finally to 4,782 in the recent process. Among these, 3,705 job offers were accepted by the new CAs this year.
The average salary offered has gone up slightly compared to the 58th process but has gone down compared with the last placement cycle. The average salary increased from Rs 12.32 lakh per annum in the 58th to Rs 13.24 lakh per annum in the 59th but has come down to Rs 12.49 lakh per annum this time.

The 60th Campus Placement Programme was successfully conducted across 29 locations, comprising 9 big centers and 20 small centers, witnessing enthusiastic participation from aspiring CAs and esteemed recruiters alike. Here are the key highlights.

Successful Placements: A total of 3,705 candidates accepted job offers, reflecting a robust conversion rate and a testament to the program's effectiveness in connecting talent with top recruiters.
Generally, 5000 to 6,000 CAs get placements in a year, but in 2024, we placed about 8,000 CAs in top companies. Normally, about 150 companies visit the campus for placement in a session, but we witnessed the highest participation of 241 companies this year in a session. The data reflects the increasing demands for CAs in the job market," Dheeraj Khandelwal, chairman of the Committee for Members in Industry & Business (CMI&B) of ICAI, told HT.

Process of ICAI Campus Placement

Step 1: Registration
- Platform: All the process is done online on the ICAI web portal (Committee for Members in Industry & Business, or CMI&B).
- Eligibility: CAs qualified in May exams are eligible to enroll for the September program, while those qualified in November can enroll for the January program. Even candidates who have completed their articleship but failed to get placement immediately due to an incomplete articleship can enroll for the next available session.
- Age Requirement: Under 21 years, special permission needs to be sought from CMI&B.
Step 2: Shortlisting
- Selection Basis: The selection of the shortlist is based on academic performance, experience, rank, or achievement.
- Notification: The portal will send tentative interview dates and locations to the shortlisted candidates.
Step 3: Interviews
- Centers: Interviews are conducted in two phases: at major centers (e.g., Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata) and at smaller centers (e.g., Noida, Chandigarh, Indore).
- Selection: Candidates not shortlisted in metropolitan centers are offered a second chance at smaller centers.

- Consent: The candidates should give their consent after receiving job offers. Candidates are not permitted to attend interviews after giving their consent.
