Passing Criteria for CA Foundation and Intermediate 

To qualify for the examination candiadtes need to obtain the prescribed marks by ICAI. Generally, candidates are required to obtain 40 % marks in each paper and 50 % aggregate marks in each group to pass the CA Foundation and Intermediate levels. 

Those students who are unable to achieve these marks, they need to do next examination session conducted by ICAI.

1. If You Passed: First, celebrate your hard work! Then take the next steps in your CA journey: 

• For those who have passed the Foundation: Enroll in the CA Intermediate course and start preparing for the next exam. ICAI will open intermediate registration immediately after the results. 
• For those passing Inter: Register for the CA Final course. If you have passed both the groups of Inter, then apply for the CA Final Exam Form. 
• To those who passed the finals: Congratulations, you are a CA! After passing the final, apply for ICAI membership. ICAI will send your passing certificate within ~60 days. Then, if you wish, you can obtain a Certificate of Practice (COP) and start your professional career. 

2. If you failed (or partially passed): Don't be discouraged. Many candidates qualify for the exam on the subsequent attempt. Your detailed marksheet will show which papers you have failed. Focus on those topics in your next study plan.

• Foundation: If you have failed in some subjects, you can reappear in those subjects in the next session. Everyone takes a pass.
• Intermediate: If you fail in one group, you have to appear again in the next examination only in that group (the passing score of the other group will be carried forward indefinitely). If both groups fail, plan to try both again. Inter registration remains valid for some attempts. 
• Final: Same as Inter: failing in a group, appearing in that group again the next time; Both fail, retry both groups.
