  • 20 Jun 2022

The first time a CA student is introduced to the realm of law is during CA Foundation. The CA Exam is not like a college or board exam. It takes a competent and well-thought-out strategy for a student to pass the exam on the first try.

The study of law at CA foundation contributes to the regulation of business and profession in society. The purpose of the law paper is to familiarize students with the legal background of company laws.

CA Foundation Syllabus for Law

  1. The Indian Contract Act, 1872
  2. The Indian Partnership Act, 1932
  3. The Sale of Good Act, 1930
  4. The Companies Act, 2013
  5. The Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008

The most essential acts in the course are the Indian Contract Act of 1872 and the Partnership Act of 1932. For CA Foundation, only the fundamental ideas of the Companies Act of 2013 are covered. The Companies Act is then studied in depth at the CA Intermediate level.

Strategy To Score 60+ Marks in Law

Because law is a theory subject, you will need to memorize everything as well as possible. Here are a few pointers to help you remember everything.

  • Wherever possible, concentrate on the main aspects of various solutions. To recall those key elements, write them down and practise them.
  • In each answer, underline the relevant terms. Make a list of the key words and memorize them. You may simply frame the sentence in your own words in the exam if you know the important words.
  • Try to use legal and technical jargon as much as possible, and be sure to underline the main terms in your response.
  • Make a list of Section numbers that you will read every day till your tests. Though writing parts are not required, they will undoubtedly offer you an advantage. But remember, if you're not sure, don't quote the section number. No section number is preferable to the incorrect section number.
  • Aside from learning and understanding the fundamental concepts and provisions, the presentation and style of writing answers in the test is one of the most important criteria in doing well on the Law examination.

Remember while solving Theoretical Questions that these are straight questions that are based on the principles. These questions do not necessitate any additional preparation, but they do necessitate a specific writing strategy.Write the answer in point format. Underline the heading and leave a line after every point. Wherever examples are needed, include them.

However, when you come across Practical Case-Study questions divide your response into three paragraphs.

Paragraph 1: State the section number, the name of any case law, and the theory to which the query or case refers.

Paragraph 2- Discuss the facts of the case and arrive at a solution in the second paragraph.

Paragraph 3: This paragraph should include the final conclusion or recommendation. A conclusion can be written in as few as two or three phrases. You don't need to repeat the provisions because the conclusion isn't the place to make fresh arguments.

Remember, there is no replacement for hard work, students. Planning, strategy, and consistent study will help you pass the CA Foundation exam on the first try. Do not put off planning your studies until the last minute or until your section is finished. Make a detailed study plan to ensure that you cover every subject and topic completely.
